BTD6 How to Level Up Fast - Basically Average (2024)

Bloons Tower Defense 6 is a tremendously fun game to play that offers hours on end of gameplay.

Players must place different types of towers in order to protect themselves from leaking bloons past the end of their track.

Although it would be easily assumed that players will have to complete a map in order to gain experience, nothing could be further from the truth as players can complete portions of the map and still receive a healthy amount of experience, depending on how many bloons and rounds they defeat.

Player experience is extremely similar to the experience players will need to initially unlock towers, gathering experience purely based on how much damage players deal to bloons, essentially meaning that the more bloons players come across, the more experience they will get!

WHAT DOES LEVELLING UP DO FOR YOU?

Depending on how you look at it levelling up will bring players a variety of upgrades, as mentioned the first being the ability to unlock new towers.

Players will want to accumulate levels as fast as they can as levelling up will essentially provide players with the experience they need to unlock new Monkey upgrades for their towers, which are originally locked meaning that players will not have access to higher damage yielding abilities and upgrades.

Players will also receive one Monkey Knowledge point for each player level they receive which can be used to further enhance their towers. Upgrades include extra damage from towers, new abilities as well, the placement of extra towers, cost reductions and many others.

While many players would respond to the question, “how do I level up quickly then? with “Just play the game!” there is a lot of truth in this statement, as the best way to level up is to just go through the game as you normally would.

The brilliant thing about Bloons Tower Defense is the fact that there are actually many ways for players to passively level up, especially as they progress through the game and gain access to more types of maps and towers.

WHAT IS THE HIGHEST LEVEL IN BTD6?

At the moment the highest level players can on how many levels players are able to grind up to is 155.

Although players can reach level 155, players will not need to reach this level in order to be able to complete the most difficult content as player will have the option of what kinds of Monkey Knowledge they purchase which can essentially heavily increase the amount of damage Monkey’s do.

The only other way to get Monkey Knowledge is through completing Achievements, though the yield of Monkey Knowledge is substantially less, meaning that players will still want to level up in order to collect enough Monkey Knowledge.

COMPLETE NEW CONTENT

The most obvious way to level is to complete new content.

Players will not only want to complete new levels or harder content for the amount of Monkey Money they yield, as more difficult levels will provide players with higher amounts of Monkey Money, but players will also receive more experience when completing more difficult content receiving more based on the difficulty of the map itself as well as the difficulty players select for the map they choose to play.

Essentially if players want to get the most experience they should skip playing the Easy tier of each map and start off with Medium or Hard based on what the player can handle.

I wouldn’t avoid the easier maps, as higher difficulty versions of easier maps will yield a good amount of experience and shouldn’t be too difficult for folks to complete.

Players should try to complete as many different versions of the same map as they can, though again this is not essential as players will receive the same amount of experience if they complete a map the second time around as they did the first, though this will result in a lower yield of Monkey Money.

REPEAT DEFLATION OVER AND OVER AGAIN

Although this somewhat the opposite of what I initially recommended, an effective method players can use to get experience is continuously repeat rounds of a Deflation mode.

Players must complete all the various versions of a map on Easy mode in order to unlock Deflation, but essentially will be given $20,000 in order to get through 30 rounds of the map.

Players will be able to essentially “AFK” after placing all of the towers they need in order to complete the 30 rounds as it is not essential to use Hero abilities.

While playing 30 rounds isn’t the most optimal way of collecting experience, as truthfully securing 100 rounds of Impoppable is going to be the best way to get experience, players will not have the luxury of AFK farming on more difficult content, especially due to the fact that they will not have access to the sheer amount of Money Money players initially receive for completing the map the first time through.

I’ll be honest, doing Deflation rounds makes the most sense when players have mods installed onto the Steam version of their game as you can essentially run a mod that speeds up your gameplay beyond the regular 2x speed in order to get through the rounds much faster than you normally would.

Unfortunately mobile and console users will not be able to do this as mods are not supported on those platforms. That being said, mods are a newer addition to BTD6 and are considered to be fine to use as long as players are not using it in Races or in Co-Op that isn’t amongst friends.

I would also be wary of using mods during Odyssey game players, though I personally haven’t seen an outward stance on whether or not this is considered “illegal” or against the rules (please let me know if you’ve seen any updates on this because I’d love to know!)

At the end of the day, even if players choose not to mod their BTD6, leaving a game on during Deflation shouldn’t take too long to complete, especially if players use a (2/-/2) Super Monkey and a (4/-/2) Ninja Monkey.

Hell, in most cases you can throw a Hero in there and a Free Dart Monkey if you have enough Monkey Knowledge to get those bonuses, though the Super Monkey and Ninja Monkey tend to do swimmingly on their own.

DO NOT PLAY FREEPLAY!

As much as I love continuing on to Freeplay after I’ve completed a map of BTD6, it is really not the best way to collect experience as players will see a huge drop in the experience that they receive from Freeplay.

What this means is that players should either choose to play on maps that have more rounds or should simply opt out to repeating content over and over again.

That being said, I won’t pretend that I don’t hit the “Freeplay” button every chance I get because the sweet reward of an Insta-Monkey is too good not to have, especially when grinding up for tougher weeks of Odyssey Mode.

PLAY IMPOPPABLE OR C.H.I.M.P.S.

The best difficulties to collect experience on are two of the toughest variants of the game, being Impoppable and C.H.I.M.P.S.

Both Impoppable and C.H.I.M.P.S. require players to complete a full 100 rounds of the map, but will yield 100% experience in comparison to the option of playing Freeplay.

I will say, Impoppable and C.H.I.M.P.S. is quite a difficult feat, especially for newer players, so the Deflation method may be the best choice for newer players, especially if players want to AFK.

It does make sense that player will not be able to AFK in these game modes, especially as these game modes are considered to be two of the toughest game modes in the game.

I will say, if players do want to AFK in these game modes they will need to use modes, though realistically I wouldn’t recommend this as it takes out all of the fun of playing the game.

DO YOUR DAILY CHALLENGES

One of my favourite ways of collecting experience is by completing the daily challenges. Reason being? Many daily challenges are actually a lot easier and quicker to complete than actually playing regular levels.

The only issue with completing random daily challenges is the fact that many of them are set on the Easy Mode of the game, thus reducing the amount of experience players receive, simply due to the fact that they will not be popping as many bloons.

Realistically, in the past week I’ve played a number of daily challenges that have allowed me to AFK, which to me is the biggest priority when trying to passively level up, since I can simply ALT-Tab out of the window or go do chores while still getting some decent experience in.

DO RACES

Races are by far one of the easiest ways to level up as players will be able to summon hoards of bloons onto their map from early on in the challenge.

When it comes to experience, one of the biggest hinderances is the amount of time it takes for bloons to spawn, thus slowing down the experience yield players have.

When it comes to Races, players are completely in control and can effectively be able to skip to later rounds such as 20-50 depending on what the racing event allows and how many coins players are given at the beginning of the race.

Last week, for example, by placing two upgraded Towers I was able to jump to round 52 easily without having any negative side effect, ultimately making it extremely easy for me to grind levels.

With last weeks racing event alone I was able to level up from 125-130 within days and not spending extra Monkey Money to repeat the race.

CONCLUSION

At the end of the day levelling up and the method players choose to use will depend on what a player’s priorities are.

If you’re someone who doesn’t have a whole lot of time and prefers to AFK, I would recommend playing Deflation on all maps, but if you’re someone who is committed to gameplay and would like to stare at your computer the whole time, play Impoppable and C.H.I.M.P.S.

For those of you who are more daring and are willing to put in some extra Monkey Money to repeat levels, do Race Events.

In my opinion, Race Events are the best way for players to collect experience, again simply because of the control players have when it comes to releasing bloons.

So I’m curious, what’s your favourite way of getting experience? Do you have any advice for how players can level up faster? Let me know in the comments below!
