  1. Pam Sarris says:

Six sisters. My uncle had six kids. One boy, five girls. Their house number was 516 and people remembered it by; five girls, one boy, six brats. I can't wait to try this recipe. Perhaps tonight. I have been looking for a good Salisbury steak recipe. Thanks!

  2. Liz says:

Nice and real easy. Thank you.

  3. Lecy @ Simple Life Happy Wife says:

This puts a lid on the cafeteria salisbury steaks of my childhood. Can't wait to make this for my hubby!

  4. Lora Cotton says:

Hi, I LOVE your site (and it's sister site Recipe Magic.) This recipe looks so GOOD, but unfortunately, I won't be able to use it. My husband has an illness called Gastroparesis, which literally means "Stomach paralysis." Therefore beef is a HUGE NO-NO for his diet. At one time, I had a recipe for a Mock Salisbury Steak made with ground chicken, but due to a computer issue I've lost that recipe and never been able to find it again. Does anyone within your circle know of or have a recipe that could substitute either ground chicken or turkey for the beef in a Salisbury Steak recipe (or any other recipe too?) Thanks!

  5. Marcia Little says:

I make mine from scratch with one pound of ground turkey, 80/20 beef, and one pound of ground pork, smashed round buttery crackers, eggs, salt pepper and some thyme. Ummm, make homemade gravy with lots of mushroom and onion in the roux, and good beef stock. Fry them alone, then make gravy and add them back into it to finish cooking, oh, ummm, bring on the mashed potatoes with roasted garlic and lots of butter. Add green beans or peas and it's a feast. But I have two teenage boys, and always at least two of their friends for dinner!

  6. Debbie says:

Just made this last night and it was so delicious! I even made it with the Italian Peas and mashed Pots. Excellent comfort food! Thanks for all the wonderful recipes.

  7. Cyd says:

Hi Lora! I think we can help you!! We have so many recipes on MyRecipeMagic.com from a lot of bloggers and women who love to cook! Just go to MyRecipeMagic.com. Then click on the pink "Search By Ingredient" tab towards the top. Scroll down to where it says "ingredients to include" and type in ground chicken or chicken. Then go to the bottom and click on "SEARCH". When I typed in Turkey 730 recipes using turkey came up. When I typed in Ground Chicken about 73 came up. I hope this helps in cooking some recipes that will work for your husbands diet. Let us know if you have any other questions.

  8. Rebecca says:

I'm a vegetarian, but my family of carnivores LOVED this. Classic comfort food. Thank you!

  9. Michelle says:

Hubby loved it, told me to make sure I saved this recipe to make again. Quick easy recipe. I did add some onions and bell peppers. Yum!

  10. Marijane says:

We make it all the time now. My family loves it!

  11. Amy says:

This looks delicious! I do have a question: the cook time at top of the recipe says 20 min, however if I read the recipe right, the patties cook for 10 min one side, 10 min on the other, then 10 min in the gravy? So are they supposed to cook for 30 minutes, or am I reading it wrong?

  12. Cyd says:

Just follow the cook times in the directions. We'll fix that. Thanks for letting us know.

  13. Aimee C says:

This is the easiest, best tasting salisbury steak recipe. My boys love it and it is easy to double.

  14. Brittany says:

Can you substitute the jar of brown gravy for a packet mix of the same?

  15. Cyd says:

Sure, you can whip up the gravy packet and it will work fine.

  16. jess says:

Question my store didnt have french onion just onion is that ok?

  17. Cyd says:

    You should be fine!! :)

  18. Joseph says:

Would it work as well if I use mushroom gravy instead of beef gravy?

  19. Cyd says:

Mushroom gravy would be delicious too!

  20. Helen says:

I was thinking the same thing. I intentionally didn't cook the patties for long. I have trouble swallowing and noticed most people and recipes cook the meat to death. 10min ea side and ten mins in gravy would make them inedible for me. I used a meat thermometer until they were 5-10 degrees before medium rare. Added the gravy and simmered until it read medium. So juicy and tender.

  21. Rose says:

My pick hubby gave this a double thumbs up! I have never made Salisbury steaks before because I always thought it was just a hamburger with gravy. But this is its own special little patty of savory joy! Thank you for giving us a new family favorite 😘

  22. Cyd says:

Hi Rose. So glad you liked the Salisbury Steak. Thanks for taking the time to leave a sweet comment! Have a great week.

  23. Karen says:

Made the Salisbury steak and your make ahead potatoes. It was wonderful! Entire family was crazy and demanded that it go on the rotation! Very easy to make.

  24. Bill D says:

I followed the recipe except it only took 5 min per side to cook. I also made the gravy following the gravy recipe. My family really enjoyed it, and so did I. Next time my kids want Salisbury Steak for dinner I’ll skip the frozen & make this instead.

  25. Kathy says:

I make this often, but use lipton beefy onion soup mix, a dash of steak sauce, and sauteed mushrooms and onions, add a little red wine to beef gravy mix packets.

  26. Cyd says:

Hi Kathy! Sounds delicious. Thanks for sharing.

  27. Zaira says:

Our family loves this recipe! A total hit and I love how simple it is to make! Thank you!!

  28. Micalela says:

Super easy, great tasting, perfect for a quick filling meal. My husband loves this dish. It’s now one of our staples.
