NEW JERSEY—As the legacy newspaper industry continues to struggle, meteorologist Joe Martucci says another round of layoffs in New Jersey has signaled the end of the Press of Atlantic City’s weather team.
After over six years of delivering weather updates and engaging with the community, meteorologist Joe Martucci and his team at The Press of Atlantic City have been let go, following a team restructuring.
Despite the changes, Martucci is not ready to leave meteorology or his connections with the New Jersey community.
Martucci expressed his gratitude for his support, highlighting the various ways people have engaged with his work—whether through social media, subscribing to The Press of Atlantic City, listening to the “Across the Sky” podcast, or simply saying hello in local places like Shoprite.
While uncertain about the specifics of his next steps, Martucci is optimistic about continuing to provide weather updates and local news. He invites businesses, organizations, friends, and anyone with ideas for collaboration or who wishes to stay informed about local weather to reach out to him.

Crabbing in the Wildwoods Offers Affordable Family Fun
THE WILDWOODS, NJ – Crabbing in the Wildwoods provides a cost-effective and enjoyable activity for families vacationing in the area. With affordable supplies that can be reused multiple times, families can experience the thrill of potentially catching a bushel of blue crabs for their dinner.
A favored shore activity, crabbing is common in the tidal marsh areas on the west side of the island. Enthusiasts often gather along the wetlands as they enter the island and at various docks and street ends along the back bay.
The Cape May National Wildlife Refuge and Lakeview Docks on Park Boulevard in Wildwood Crest are prime locations for crabbing. The Refuge offers creek-side spots in the marshlands, while Lakeview Docks features a fishing and crabbing pier. Boat rentals are available for those looking to venture further into the waters.
For shore-based crabbing, North Wildwood and other areas along Rio Grande Boulevard provide several accessible spots. Further south, near Two Mile Inn and over the toll bridge on Ocean Drive, crabbers can find good locations near small bridges and a popular fishing pier on the Intracoastal Waterway.
Crabbers are advised to be cautious of crab claws and to release non-edible species such as green crabs and spider crabs. Crabs tend to congregate near underwater structures like pilings, bridges, and shipwrecks, making these ideal spots for setting traps. For more information about activities in the Wildwoods, visitors can access www.WildwoodsNJ.com or call 800-992-9732.
