Did you see that cute little video up there👆?! I hope you guys are liking them, because we’re having a blast making them. 🙂

H.O.W.E.V.E.R.

You know the part where Trevor picks out the bay leaf and adds in balsamic, salt, and pepper?

Yeah, well, we had to film that part 3 separate times.

The second time : the camera wasn’t turned on. Seriously? Seriously. 😉

The third time : Well, that’s why they say third time’s the charm!

Oh well. As you can see, this recipe is crazy easy to make. And not only is this french onion soup crazy easy, it’s also ridiculously delicious. Easyand delicious? Those are my favorite recipes.

Especially for Valentine’s Day.

Valentine’s Day should be about making easy and delicious food with your loved one. Nothing too complicated.Amiright?

This french onion soup definitely fits the bill.

While it does take a little time to cook, it’s very low maintenance.

French Onion Soup Recipe - Appetizer for Two! (5)The first step is just caramelizing some onions in a little butter with salt and sugar. SOeasy, but SO tasty. I mean, nothing smells better than onions and butter cooking.

The next step is mixing in broth, wine, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, and a bay leaf into the pot. Bring this to a simmer and let cook low and slow for about 20 minutes.

After that, all you need to do is serve it up into two oven safe bowls, sprinkle with a little parm, top with a slice of baguette, and cover the whole thing in swiss cheese.

Broil it up until nice and bubbly and you’ve got yourself the BEST appetizer.

A comforting, cozy, easy french onion soup that’s packed with flavor and loaded with gooey cheese?

Why did you double star “beef broth” in your ingredient list? I can’t find the reference.

French Onion Soup Recipe - Appetizer for Two! (34) Great recipe! It made enough for the four of us with one serving left over – five appetizer portions. I used red wine and about 1 tbsp worchestershire and omitted the vinegar as the kids hate anything with vinegar. We don’t have broiler-safe bowls, so I broiled the bread and cheese on a cookie sheet, then set them on top of the soup. Yum!

Oh my goodness I just looooooove french onion soup. I unfortunately don’t have it that much cause I guess I think it’s like too good for me to have and also cause it has French in the title when makes me thing it’s more fancier than it actually is! I gotta make this it just looks so good!

    • Jennifer @ Show Me the Yummy

Thanks Linda! Ha!! Me too. Anything with “french” in the title automatically becomes more intimidating and fancy. 😉 But I SWEAR this is so easy. 🙂
